sandwich.bot posts a sandwich picture when someone types /sandwich. It is a hobby project run by one person. This page says what it stores and how to remove it.
What it can see in Slack
The bot asks for two permissions: chat:write (post a message) and commands (receive the /sandwich command). It cannot read your messages, channels or files.
What it stores
- Your workspace's bot token, so it can post. The bot encrypts it before it saves it.
- Your workspace's name and the date you installed the bot.
- A short shared list of the sandwiches posted most recently. It is not tied to any person or workspace.
The bot does not store people's names, messages or favorites.
What it sends to its monitoring tool
Each command creates a log entry in Honeycomb, which the maintainer uses to find bugs. It holds the workspace ID, the workspace address (the part before .slack.com), and the command. It also holds any sandwich name you typed after it, which sandwich it posted, and whether the command worked. When someone installs the bot, it also holds the workspace name. It does not hold your name, your Slack user ID, or the channel.
Custom orders
When custom orders are switched on, the text you type in an order goes to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. Claude reads the text to decide if it is a sandwich. Anthropic handles the text under its own terms. The bot sends the text of your order and a fixed set of instructions. It does not send your name, your Slack user ID, the channel or the workspace. The text of an order is also part of what you typed, so the log entry above holds it too.
Where it runs
The site and bot run on Vercel. The token store is Upstash Redis. Monitoring is Honeycomb. When custom orders are on, the AI model is Claude from Anthropic. No ads and no analytics trackers are on this site.
How to remove it
Remove sandwich.bot from your workspace in Slack. Slack then tells the bot, and the bot deletes your workspace's token and install details. Log entries in Honeycomb age out under Honeycomb's retention settings.
Help and contact
If the bot does not answer, first check that it was added to the channel: open the channel, click its name, choose Integrations, and add sandwich.bot. For anything else, or to ask for your data to be deleted sooner, write to hello@sandwich.bot.
